Broadcom has announced a new enhancement to its CA 1™ Flexible Storage™ solution. This feature, the Virtual Storage Adapter, enables you to more efficiently store your mainframe data on virtual storage devices – and with less cost.
You might already know that by moving selected data to the Cloud, you can save up to 95% compared to storing on expensive DASD devices. And now with the Virtual Storage Adapter feature, you can choose to set up a private on-premise cloud environment and eliminate expensive disk storage, instead benefiting from much lower cost commodity storage devices.
The storage and retrieval of your data are now more efficient as well. The Virtual Storage Adapter uses simple I/O for egress (data retrieval), and leverages zIIP processors, which can lower CPU cycles and save you money on your IBM® monthly license charge fees.
CA 1 Flexible Storage is a modern approach to storage management that provides secure, cost-effective mainframe data storage options for hybrid IT environments. This software-only solution requires no additional infrastructure, saves on costs, and increases confidence in data security.
So, in summary, managing your mainframe data storage is now much more efficient and cost-effective, which might be music to your ears.
If you haven’t yet upgraded your CA 1 license to V15.1 (CA 1 Flexible Storage), you can do so today at no additional cost. Stay tuned for even more helpful storage features coming your way that will help you with your mainframe data storage strategy.
